Wood Hindu Hanuman Monkey God in Battle with Serpent, Indonesia

Detail: Hanuman is a very popular Hindu deity. Believed to be an avatar of Lord Shiva, Hanuman is worshiped as a symbol of physical strength, perseverance and devotion. Depicted here in a fighting battle against a serpent/dragon. Good detail.  Acquired from a dealer in S. California in 2000.  Circa mid-1900s.  A lighter color of wood and less dense than the Ireng wood.  In good condition with a minor crack in the serpent tail (on bottom).
