Vintage Jingfa Cloisonné Lamp Finial. China

Click the photo above for a larger version and more pictures

Jingfa, derives its name from the “Blue of Jingtai,” a reference to China’s traditional enamelware cloisonné, so-called because such items were predominantly blue. The most elaborate and highly prized Chinese cloisonné comes from the Ming Dynasty period, particularly durng the reign of the Jingtai Emperor (1450-57), another namesake.

Jingfa cloisonné  – only made at the Beijing Enamel Factory (the largest manufacturer of enamel cloisonné in that country – is still a handcrafted process involving several artisans and numerous steps to achieve the results of a piece.

With the heart and bird design, this is a rare find for a finial.
