The Man-Easters and Other Odd People, A Popular Description of Singular Races of Man,” takes on all races from all continents . . . from Patagonia to the Texan frontier. This edition that was first printed in 1861, includes a memoir of Mayne Reid by R. H. Stoddard.
He has an interesting perspective being a “historian” and novel author (think, “The Headless Horseman”). The first printing was back in 1861, so take that into account.
All-in-all, it is MORE THAN an interesting read.
The 1889 hardbound book is in very good condition with embossed green cover (with gold on spine). 461 pages with still tight binding, illustrations and very slightly yellowed pages.
For the Serious Collector or aficionado of antiquary. Add this one to your old book shelf . . . but enjoy the read first!
