Magnificent is a bit of an understatement for this stately vessel.  Acquired from a Chinese family estate in Connecticut, this piece dates to the mid-1880s.   The design of dragon handles and the foo / fu dog on top is stunning and quite rare.  Vented lid.… Continue reading

Han Dynasty-style Sin-you / Dog / Dragon, China

Click the photo above for a larger version and more pictures

This is a Han Dynasty traditional motif with markings of longevity and wisdom.  Probably a brass cast with brass wire forming the inlaid pattern.  The Sin-you is symbolic of justice and truth.  Circa mid-1900’s.  In very good condition.   This item has been SOLD.  Thanks Mark S. !!

Blue / White Porcelain Mythical Sin-you, China

Click the photo above for a larger version and more pictures

Detail: Stylized from the Chinese chimerical creature. It doesn’t have the imposing presence nor the shaggy mane but with the horn and hooves it appears to be a “mild” version of the Sin-you. Notice the hollowed out nostrils. Great details and vivid blue color. Circa mid-1900’s. Perfect condition.
