Handcrafted in the SW Xinjiang Region. The emergence of spinach green nephrite jade can be attributed to the Qing Qianlong period. The emperor’s interest in this jade color made it very popular . . . over other jades in Asia and Canada. The flattened silver ornamentation that surrounds the bowl was all handcrafted by artisans.
Acquired in 2000 from a private home in Lanzhou (Gansu Province). Owner / collector maintained that the bowl is from the early 1900s and that the ornamentation was high in silver content. Seal on bottom.
