Ritual Wooden / Ceremonial Bearded Man Dagger, Siam / Thailand

Click the photo above for a larger version and more pictures

An antique and stunning ritual knife! I believe this is a Meed Mor (Meed Hmor) “magic knife” used as a ritual or ceremonial dagger. This is very old, perhaps early 1800’s . . . maybe older. On the top section there is a carved bearded Asian gentleman who appears to be in a crouched position. The blade has markings that appear to be old Asian characters. I acquired it from a dealer in Thailand who had no idea what it was or where it originated. Even without a lot of history from which to draw conclusions, I would have to say that this is a unique and rare piece. Many Meed Mor ritual knives are made of bone, brass or other metals. For the Serious Collector.
