This is original artwork from a Baba Nyonya community of artists near Malacca – 15th and 16th Century Chinese descendants – who settled in west Malaysia.  The phoenix and peony motif indicates that this painting on porcelain was given as a gift during a wedding ceremony.  Circa mid-1900s.  In very good condition.

 

This is a rare find suitable for the Serious Collector.
