Heavy layer of gold gilt.  Sealed prayer chamber on back.    From a special art exhibit in NYC in May 2000.

Although labelled as a Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), I have some doubts.  If this is an empress or immortal, the hair style is more in line with the Sui and Tang Dynasties (581 – 907).  Most likely this statue – with the temple makeup and the heavy gold gilt – is from the early 1700s (Qing Dynasty)…. although it is hard to imagine a misrepresentation from this highly-rated art exhibit.

Exceedingly rare in this condition.   For the Serious Collector.    Stand not included.
