Kirtimukha – personifying ferocity – is symbolic of our thoughtless pursuit of worldly possessions and pleasures. Okay…. I’ll buy that! I think it would make a great mask hung over a doorway. Of course that is just me, but I think this mask is very cool especially with it’s splash of gold in strategic places. You will not likely find it’s brother anywhere. Notice the “asps” curled around the base of the horn. Circa late 1900s. A great gift for the friend with protruding eyeballs or open nostrils. No stands are included.
There is a similar mask on this site. Search for “Horned Kirtimakha Mask”. It is item M-1420 and it has a protruding tongue.
This mask has SOLD. Many thanks D.G. !
