Rare Ancient Sandstone Goddess Bust.  1100 – 1400 AD.  Sri Lanka

Excavated in the 1950s in the Anuradhapura area . . .  on the site of Sri Lanka’s first capital city.

 

This red sandstone figure is quite eroded due to the nature of the soft stone.  It is a bust of a woman or goddess.  A wooden stand is provided.
