This figure was acquired from a Californian collection.  The collector travelled to archaeological digs throughout Central America and Peru over a forty-year period of time.

This piece was identified from Jalisco in or near a shaft tomb . . . a few miles from the state of Nayarit.  Circa late formative or early classic periods.

It has a lot of similarities with the Chavin civilization of Peru’s North Coast.  Such similarities carried on through the Salinar, Mochica, Recuay and Chimu civilizations.

The statue is in near perfect condition.

For the Serious Collector.    Stand not included.
