Prayer Beads / Mala / Rosary Yak Bone Skull Necklace, Tibet

Click the photo above for a larger version and more pictures

Malas are used to count prayers or mantras.  This mala or necklace is carved from yak bone in the shape of skulls and is a reminder of impermanence.  When counting prayers or mantras using the beads, we are to be reminded of how precious our short life is.

Each bead is hand carved and slightly different which gives the mala a unique appearance . .  rich patina and antique look.  The cord color adds to this mala’s uniqueness.

Malas are most commonly made of wood, but they can be also made of amethyst, lotus seed and – as this one – bone.  Search for MALA for other offerings on this site.  Stand not included.
