The mythical deity – Garuda – has a ton of spiritual significance in Hinduism and Buddhism.  In Hinduism, Garuda is most often found mounted on the back of Vishnu, as the god’s protector.

Here the Garuda – with a snake in its beak – symbolizes the predominance of intellect / power over the basic human instincts.  Hence the conquest of evil (ignorance) by the purity of good (intellect and wisdom).  I think we could use a few more Garudas today.

These masks can be found in Buddhist and Hindu temples everywhere and are revered as a guardian deity.  Traditionally, Garudas are hung over the esotericstuff.com door to homes . . .  again as a protector

This specific Garuda was handcrafted by 7th Generation Nepalese artisans.  Stand not included.

Great detail.  For the Serious Collector.
