You all know about the use of this Phurba… how it is and was used in the construction of sacred buildings to drive away hatred and demonic obstacles.
But here is a new twist to its formation. Banjhakri are “forest or wilderness” shamanic deities. They are short, wild, with large ears and feet pointing backwards. Further, they are hairy and play drums. They kidnap human children, take them back to their caves for “shaman training”. Sometimes these children are eaten by Banjhakri’s spouse….. okay, let’s stop there.
There is a tantric sect that believes in this shaman deity. And, this Phurba was carved by an artisan in that sect….. probably in the mid-1900s (or earlier).
So rare? Yep.
For the Serious Collector who are into Phurbas with a shamanic history. Stand not included.
