Phurba, also Phurwa, is a ritual object used to dispel and destroy obstacles. It was originally used to mark out the perimeter of a sacred building (temple or monastery). Since that time, it was used in ritual and sacred ceremonies.
The three sided blade represents control and cutting through the three root poisons of ignorance, desire and hatred… during the three times of past, present and future.
I really love these older phurbas and you can feel the authenticity when you squeeze it in your hand. Notice the 3-faces on the blade.
In pristine condition and undamaged. From a village on the Bagmati River in the Katmandu Valley.
Very rare! An authentic older Phurba in this condition are really hard to find. Stands are not included.
