Detail: I acquired this from a fine arts gallery in Boston in 1999. The gallery acquired it in the mid-1970s from an art dealer in China. I don’t have any paperwork on it but the gallery told me that it was definitely from the Ming Dynasty and that it might have been lacquered at one time. I don’t see any reesotericstuff.coming evidence of this but there is a deep dark green patina overall. It is in good condition considering its age. This is most likely Bodhisattva Samantabhadra. The Buddha is seated on an elephant, a representation of overcoming obstacles, and a double lotus throne . . . all common on Ming Dynasty bronze statues.
For the Serious Collector.
