From the Chokwe people of the Congo and Angola.  Mwana Pwo masks like this one are handcarved by an artisan to represent “the love of his life”, an ancestral spirit of Pwo, or the archetype of womanhook & fertility.

Special care is taken with adornment and accessories.  For this mask, scarification, finely carved teeth, woven braids & headband, and a woven neck covering.

All in all, she is gorgeous and in very good condition.  For the Serious Collector.  Sorry, stand not included.
