Mahogany Seated Kuan Yin / Quanyin Statue, China

Detail:  This is a solid piece of mahogany wood carved into a seated Kuan Yin, God of Compassion.  A remarkable piece – not just because of the simplicity of carving – but for the elegance of the pose and serenity.  Purchased from a private family in Chengdu who claims to have had it in the family since the early 1900’s.  I acquired it from its second owner, an antique dealer / owner in 2001.  Perfect condition and rare in this condition.  For the Serious Collector.

So sorry but this gorgeous statue has been sold.
