Garuda’s origins are in Indonesia about 2000 years ago.  In Buddhist culture. Garudas are called the Bird of Life and the Nagas and Kirata are its enemies.  Here Garuda – with Hindu Vishnu (god of life) on his back – is in a fight with guardians and a horned turtle with shell.  One piece of wood with astonishing carvings.  Circa mid-1900’s.  Pristine condition.  For the Serious Collector.

See another Indonesian deity, Hanuman protector, S-2869.
