Maitland-Smith acquired this piece in the Philippines and sold it through their global network . . . from their base in Hong Kong.
Acquired from a prominent family estate in Charlotte North Carolina, this stunning centerpiece is quite massive with a 19” bowl, with antiqued brass or bronze fringes, scallops & base.
Did I mention the nest and bird in solid bronze or brass? And the detailed enameling on the wings, tail and round the neck?
The bowl is covered with an iridescent inlay that looks a lot like mother of pearl. The design is really appealing.
There is some slight tarnishing/oxidation on the bird’s feet and legs. Further, there is tiny piece of enamel missing off the tip of one of the wings. Other than that….. it is in excellent condition.
This entire piece is very unique making it an incredible display piece!
