There is an ancient legend about the two warriors who fought with each other in many battles. In one such battle, the older warrior killed the younger. When he removed the mask of the dead warrior, he saw that it was his son….. leading to torment and misery. He fell to the ground crying in agony with his face buried in his hands.
As it relates to Buddha . . . the story symbolizes Buddha crying for the suffering of the world and his angst for the persistent sorrow in our lives.
Rubbing the back of such a statue gives peace and strength to those who have endured tragedy and profound sadness.
Exact age unknown but it does have healing power . . . it is quite large and in good condition.
