Huon Pine Bowl, Tasmania

Click the photo above for a larger version and more pictures

Detail: This bowl is made out of exotic soft but extremely tough wood that dates back thousands of years in Tasmania. Among other applications, this wood was used for shipbuilding for years. It contains an oil that is resistant to most marine organisms. Now it is an endangered wood. My source harvests logs that have been submerged in rivers for many years. A group of artisans carve and finish them to give this look. I have many Huon Pine bowls so be sure to contact me to find one that suits you. These bowls have a pleasant smell that stays  fragrant.
