Handcrafted by skilled and traditional artisans in a village (on the Bai River) outside Nanyang, southwestern Henan Sheng province.

Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin) Bodhisattva began His / Her Bodhisattva career by helping sentient beings (those ascribing to matter, sensation, perception, mental formations and consciousness) and vowing: “Should He ever become disheartened in saving sentient beings, may His body shatter into a thousand pieces.” This might seem extreme, but it was symbolic of overwhelming great compassion and determination….. and does hint at the reason for 1000 arms

Very detailed and very refined!          Sorry . . . . . I need to buy new lenses to capture more details on pieces like this.

For the Serious Collector.  Stand is not included.
