I was very confident with my assessment of this fragment before I acquired it from a Maryland estate sale.

But…. I am not as confident now.  The face and hairdo/covering says Indonesian or Malaysian.  The body posture reminds me of an Indian Shiva…. Or a representation of a SE Asian Buddha.    It very possibly had been a temple hanging.

It is obviously very old and has appendages missing.  It’s also very cool and would make a welcome addition to your den or living room shelf.

20% off for anyone who can definitely identify this piece.

Stand not included.
