Fragment Terracotta Attendant / Servant Head.  Han Dynasty. Henan Province.  Central China.

This piece was unearthed in Henan, a province in central China’s Yellow River Valley, almost a century ago.  Often recognized as the place where Chinese civilization originated, this piece is from the Han Dynasty (circa 200 B.C.).  This period was the golden age of Chinese culture, economy, and military power.

 

One of my agents in Taiwan said it had been in a collector family’s possession for over 125 years.

 

Very rare with some faint presence of paint or coloring.  Stand not included.
