This clay head was unearthed in Henan, a province in central China’s Yellow River Valley, in the early 1900s. Often recognized as the place where Chinese civilization originated, this piece is from the Han Dynasty (circa 200 B.C.). This period was the golden age of Chinese culture, economy, and military power.
My agents in Taiwan said it had been in a collector family’s possession for over 125 years.
Very rare with some faint presence of paint or coloring. Stand not included. 5″ tall x 3.5″ wide x 3.5″ deep.
