This tapestry employs a combination of hand Phulkari embroidery and mirror work.  It’s long and short darning stitches are worked on the wrong side of the cloth . . .  and the pattern takes shape on the right or top side.  The motifs are made up of horizontal, vertical and diagonal stitches and the overall design is neither drawn nor traced.  Silk thread is normally used.

This beautiful cotton fabric and its embroidery comes from the culturally-rich Punjab region of India.
