An outstanding vintage lidded jar featuring excellent Chinese enameling technique. This process features carved or chiseled depressions from a soft bronze (rich in copper) and then filled with enamel, fired and polished.
Cloisonné was used for the finer details. Here metal wire or ribbon act as a partition for the enamel to be placed.
Both techniques are used on this piece. Gold paint is used throughout the background depressions.
Manufactured by a “craftsman” enamel factory to the west of old Beijing.
Notice the classic lotus design.
Gorgeous and in great condition.
