Detail:  A 7-headed Naga (Muchalinda) hood rises over the Buddha seated on a snake coil.  Mara (a demon who wants to kill spiritual life) has sent a violent rainstorm in order to distract  the Buddha from his meditation but the Naga forms a hood to protect him from the rain by spreading its seven heads.  Hollow cast and in excellent condition.  Circa late 1800’s or early 1900’s.
