Blue / White Porcelain Mythical Sin-you, China

Click the photo above for a larger version and more pictures

Stylized from the Chinese chimerical creature, this is a Sin-you (aka Chiai Tung, Hiai Chai) known in Chinese and other East Asian cultures.  It’s appearance is similar to that of a Qilin, but a bit more imposing.  Look at those intense eyes . . . burning into whomever it stares at!  Notice the hollowed out nostrils.

Its powers are highly symbolic of justice and is believed to be able to know if a person is lying or guilty . . . just with a glance.  Good creature to have around.

Great details and vivid blue color. Circa mid-1900’s. Perfect condition.  8.5” tall and 11.5” wide
