Oil lamps appear in the Torah and other Jewish sources as a symbol of “lighting” the way for the wise and righteous. Oil lamps and the light they give were important household items as well as being used in many spiritual rituals.
I have had this single nozzle terra cotta lamp in my personal antiquity collection for nearly 15 years. It was unearthed in the 1950s. I secured it from a world renowned antique and collectible company, Shan Premier Corporation in New York. They guaranteed it to be over 2000 years old.
Simple in design. Holding it brings a whole new perspective of life in those times.
It is in very good condition. It comes with a simple lucite stand. For the Serious Collector.
