In Hinduism, Garuda is a Hindu divinity.  Many times you see Lord Vishnu riding on Garuda’s back.  Garuda is depicted as having the golden body of a strong man, red wings, an eagle’s beak and with a crown on his head. This ancient deity was said to be massive . . . large enough to block out the sun.

Garuda is known as the eternal sworn enemy of the serpent race and known for feeding exclusively on snakes.  The mantra is against all kinds of evil.

This mask is made of copper with some gold plating.  It is from a Newar family from Bhaktapur, Kathmandu.  It is confirmed as being made in the mid – 1940s.

A mask for the Serious Collector.
