Bone ball surrounded by a silver metal band. Shaft is most likely Malaysian bamboo. Definitely strong and stable.
Acquired it from an elderly “walking stick” collector in Portsmouth England. He had acquired it in Malacca and was insistent that it was from the 1800s.
Malacca is in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, about 100 miles southeast of Kuala Lumpur. . . an area for some of the earliest Malayan sultans. Malacca was under British control in the early 1800s.
If you know anything about the history of walking sticks from this area, you are should be impressed with its age, exotic appeal and uniqueness.
In excellent condition except for a corner of the silver metal band that is lifting slightly.
Suitable for moderate weight support.
