Antique Hongshan Flying Dragon Jade, China

The Hongshan culture was a neolithic culture in Northeast China.  Hongshan archeological sites stretch from Mongolia to Liaoning and date back as far as 4000 years.  Artifacts are primarily in clay, jade and copper.

I acquired this piece from a reputable antiquities dealer in Beijing.  It was part of his personal collection for over 40 years and in his family’s possession for at least 80 years before.

It has been in my collection since 2001.
