Annapurna is a mountain and part of the Annapurna massif in the Himalayas in north-central Nepal that includes one peak over 8,000 metres (26,000 ft). There is a village at the base camp and our agent did a trek through there and was greeted by a family living there. He told me that they were “beautiful people” and he must have made an impression because they parted with this hanging incense burner.
Annapurna , which literally means “full of food”, but is normally translated as Goddess of the Harvests . . . the mother who feeds. And my agent did get a good meal before he continued his quest.
The burner is in very good condition and filled with the smell of burnt incense. The carvings on the lid, around the caldron, at the base, and on the handles is very detailed.
A wonderful find for the Serious Collector.
