I love this piece.   It is an old diya lamp (not clay but brass) that has all sorts of Hindu religious icons . . peacocks, elephants, various birds.  Most times those made of brass – rather than clay – are used in temples in Hindu, Sikh Jain and Zoroastrian religious festivals.

Using an ancient Indian non-ferrous metal casting craft – Dokra  – artisans were able to create unique brass and bronze items such as animals, dancers, lamps, deity and tribal figures.

This would be a great gift for friends or yourself.  This diya lamp is very difficult to find and is considered rare in this form.

Stand is not included.  Circa early- to mid- 1900s.  8.25″ tall x 6.5″ at widest point.
