An old primitive carved wooden Crucifix with hair, rope at waist and tin halo above the head. Hand painted accents. Wooden stake in one hand and in feet. The cross is also carved and hand painted. Stake is missing on right hand.
The tin halo represents the lights of divine grace as it is integrated into the soul.
This statue goes beyond those displayed and venerated in a home altar. Because of the detail, the use of hair and the pain shown in the face, I think this was probably used on a church altar.
This is truly a phenomenal piece of South American Folk Art.
For the Serious Collector.
