I have only read about these hand carved naga pieces.  This is truly a rare find!

Naga…. a deity taking the form of a very great snake – specifically the king cobra – found in Indian religions, esotericstuff.comly Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Lao mythology esotericstuff.comtains that the Naga are the protectors of the peoples on the banks of the Mekong River near the border with Thailand.  The Naga association was most clearly articulated during and immediately after the reign of Anouvong when it represented the relations between Laos and Siam (in a veiled manner, using the Naga and the Garuda,  to represent Laos and Siam).  Who knew!

A phenomenal piece on a multi-tiered wood stand.  You are not going to find this ANYWHERE!  It is in very good condition.

For the Serious Collector of alabaster and Thai artifacts!
