Cannabalism was mentioned during the acquisition of this necklace, thought to be over 100 years old. Aghori – a Hindu sect – are well known for their extreme ritual practices using cremation ashes and the bones / skulls of human corpses.  The Aghoris are esotericstuff.comly found in India, but this particular piece came from the forested mountains just on the border with Nepal.

The necklace belonged to an ascetic sadhus or wondering holy man.  Not surprising, these holy men generated a great deal of respect from rural populations.  And 100 years ago… cannablism was certainly a practice for this Aghori sect.

Although primitive, this piece is hand crafted from antler and bronze (or brass).  The healing powers must have been very strong.

A “once in a lifetime” artifact for the Very Serious Collector.
