It is almost a mythical version of a Shogun or Samurai . . . with flowing robes and other flairs. I have done some research into the time period that this represents but have come up empty.
What I can say: it was secured from an avid warrior statue collector in LA USA quite a few years ago. His hand-written provenance states that this statue is from Takaoka city. It was cast in a small foundry that was known for highly detailed molds. He also stated it was cast in the late 1800s. I cannot substantiate that, so I have priced it lower.
It certainly appears to be museum quality and all other qualities speak to an accurate provenance. The spear can be removed from the hand.
A stunning piece in perfect condition. 6.5” tall x 4” wide.
For the Serious Collector.
